Many People ask how much it would cost to build these motors. Prices fluctuate a bit based on the USD to Yen for OEM Japanese Honda parts, and other various configurations. Below is a rough estimate of prices for the various stages of motor:
400cc Supersport Motor:
This is the base motor we start every project from. This motor includes tear down, careful inspection, measurements, blueprinting, balancing and extreme attention to detail when reassembling. Depending on rules, this also includes porting and milling of heads.
Parts: ~$1500
Heads: ~$600
Labor: ~$1200
TOTAL COSTS: ~$3,300
428cc Clubman Motor:
This motor is an overbored 400cc Supersport motor using Carrillo "A" Beam Steel rods and G-Force/CP Pistons. Although we don't recommend it, there is the option to run with stock rods, which will drop the cost of the motor. Also, the piston diameter may be changed from 55mm (std) to 59mm (+4mm) depending on race regulations. The 59mm bore will require new sleeves to be installed in the cases.
Parts: ~$1900
Pistons: ~$1800
Rods: ~$1500
Heads: ~$600
Labor: ~$1200
Boring: ~$400
TOTAL COSTS: ~$7,400
450cc Superbike Motor:
This motor is the next step above the 428cc Clubman motor. The main difference is the billet crankshaft with 2.5mm additional stroke. Again, this motor is based on the motors listed above, with some slight modifications necessary for the stroker crankshaft (that do not affect pricing).
Parts: ~$2700
Pistons: ~$1800
Rods: ~$1500
Heads: ~$1100
Labor: ~$2500
Boring: ~$400
Billet Crank: ~$4500
TOTAL COSTS: ~$14,500
