October 2nd, 2011:
New G-Force addition Dave Moss took his ex-Mike Norman owned and built NC428V to win the 2011 AFM 450cc Superbike Championship. It was a tough season for Dave, having some teething pains with the bike early in the season. The aging rubber bits in the carburettors were giving him some grief, and there were some significant delays with an outside vendor for the oversized intake valves. To handle the delays, Mark Elrod loaned Dave his 428 engine for a few events as he wasn't racing this season.
With Mark not racing in 2011, and Dave starting the season off with issues, we didn't think the 450cc Superbike Championship would end up in the G-Force camp this season. That would have made it 2 seasons in a row that we did not bring the Championship home since 2005. However, Dave continued to push on, regardless of the low odds of being able to win the Championship. At the final race of the season, despite being very badly banged and bruised from a crash in practice that same weekend (on a different bike), Dave led the race from flag-to-flag. With luck on Dave's side, the points leader retired from the same race with a mechanical DNF. This was just enough to put the points lead in Dave's lap by 9 points. He was in a bit of disbelief himself, but it was later announced that Dave Moss was the 2011 AFM 450cc Superbike Champion. CONGRATULATIONS DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In addition to Dave, our other newest addition to the G-Force Team, Ian Smith, completed the season 3rd Overall in the AFM 450cc Superbike points on his RVF400R (NC-35). Not too shabby for his Novice season. With a 428cc engine in the works and some off-season modifications to the rest of the bike, next season should be very interesting..........WAY TO GO IAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
